Our named SENCO is Sara Collom.
At St Peters Preschool, we provide an environment in which all children, including those with special educational needs or disabilities, are supported to reach their full potential.
We are committed to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which offers equal access for all children. All children are allocated a key-person, who plays a pivotal role in unlocking all aspects of a child's learning potential, it also encourages close communication between parents and the key-person. We will ensure that parents are fully involved, and where appropriate, children, in all decision making.
We have the new graduated approach in place, so that when a child is identified as having SEN or disabilities, we will 'assess', 'plan', 'do' and 'review' with the child's parents, using a child centred approach, to devise a plan tailored to each child's individual needs.
We provide support for early language development and for children with SEN, through the use of visual time-tables, makaton signs, PEC cards and we run a musical communication class.
We have a car park with disabled spaces available adjacent to the preschool, we have wide double doors and a slope for easy access.
